WASHINGTON STATE WIT RALLY
with Fraser Valley Explorers
(FORMERLY CALLED “nORTHWEST rEGIONAL rALLY”)
MAY 16-20, 2018, CASHMERE, WA
Wash-I-Bagos and the Fraser Valley Explorers (our wonderful Canadian neighbors) invite you to join us for the 2018 Washington State WIT Rally (formerly called the Northwest Regional Rally at the Chelan County Fairgrounds (5700 Wescott Dr.) in Cashmere, WA. Special note: As mentioned, the name has changed slightly, but the rally has also been lengthened a day as well, so plan to arrive on Tuesday, May 15th for a pre-rally social time and get a night’s rest before the rally kickoff first thing Wednesday morning. The rally theme is “The Fabulous 50’s” so bring your poodle skirts, letterman sweaters, or favorite leather jacket and t-shirt from that era and join us for loads of fun activities. We have an excellent band, which truly knows and plays the best of the 50’s and early 60’s music
Registration fee: two-person unit – $240; one-person unit $210, additional guests: $25.00, youth: $15.00 for Tuesday arrivals. Additional days: add $20, if arriving Wednesday, subtract $20. The Chelan County Fairgrounds offers full 50/30 amp/water/sewer hookups and has a bath house with limited facilities. If paid after May 1st, add $10.00 to the registration fee.
While we have held this rally at Cashmere for the past four years, folks have requested more time to explore the area. Cashmere is on the east slope of the Cascades, just north of Wenatchee and just south of the Bavarian town of Leavenworth (a setting right out of the Sound of Music) which features everything you loved about Germany (food, drinks and music). By lengthening our rally, we have allowed time in our rally schedule for you to visit and explore the local sights right up front.
As mentioned, there will be a “get acquainted social” on Tuesday evening. We will welcome “First-Timers” on Wednesday morning (with a continental breakfast) and a rally orientation. The remainder of Wednesday will be for settling in and checking out the area shops, restaurants, etc. There will be a Wednesday afternoon social with food and beverages for those who don’t go to German lunch and the evening activity will be “Team Challenge/Trivial Pursuit” – just for bragging rights.
Thursday will begin with a “best ball/shotgun start/golf tournament (cost is covered in the registration fee). More details and golfer registration information will be available on the Wash-i-bago website (http://www.wash-i-bagos.com) by March 1st. Lunches will be on your own this year, with several restaurants to choose from in Cashmere and the surrounding area. Thursday afternoon will begin the scheduled seminars and once again a performance by the ever popular Cashmere High School Jazz band. There will be another afternoon social hour on Thursday, with food and beverages, followed by Bingo and prizes (covered in your registration fee).
Friday will be more vendors, seminars and the elimination rounds of the beanbag baseball tournament, with the finals schedule for Saturday. We are working to get more local vendors committed to the rally than ever before. Friday evening will be a catered dinner by Ravenous (a superb) Catering, followed by a “sock hop” with the fabulous “Fun Addicts” from Seattle. Even if you can no longer fly around the dance floor, you can enjoy the music of a brighter variety. This group was booked by overwhelming demand of the membership, after performing at the 2017 Northwest Regional Rally.
Saturday will begin with the annual Memorial Service, a military recognition time. The WIT store will be open and WIT Tours will be presented by our new Western WIT Representatives. Saturday morning is also available for more sightseeing in the local area. Beanbag baseball champions for 2018 will be decided in the afternoon and Ravenous Catering will again serve the evening meal, before the awards ceremonies and door prize giveaways.
Sunday will be departure day, but you may want to attend our non-denominational worship service, hosted by Nina & Flo (the effervescent sisters from BC) before hitting the road.
Registration forms will be posted on our website (below) by February 1st and should be mailed to Gloria Braunschweig, 121 NE 14th St., Battle Ground, WA 98604, along with a check, made out to “WSWR” and Gloria can be reached by email at email@example.com.
